Pillar 1
Malaria elimination & vector control
Focus: evaluating the real-world feasibility of reactive case detection (RCD), GIS micro-stratification and targeted vaccine deployment across high-burden and border transmission zones.
Key approach: integrating ultra-sensitive diagnostic protocols (LAMP / hsRDTs) into routine community outreach.

Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) & WASH
Focus: assessing integrated delivery models for schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths (STHs), other priority NTDs and water infrastructure in rural communities.
Key approach: combining clean-water hardware installation with community-led behavioural interventions.

Sickle cell disease & chronic care delivery
Focus: identifying health-workforce and supply-chain bottlenecks in early infant diagnosis, hydroxyurea adherence and routine screening.
Key approach: operationalising point-of-care diagnostics at primary healthcare facilities.
Same Day Hospital Mbale: our living laboratory
Located in Mbale, Eastern Uganda, Same Day Hospital is our primary clinical anchor, combining high-quality patient care with research capacity.
- Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) standards. Equipped for molecular diagnostics, sample biobanking and rapid testing.
- Institutional governance. Ethical oversight through established IRB partnerships and data compliance aligned with national and international research standards.
